Indoor turf field at Stars Indoor Sports in Columbus, Ohio, unaffected by outdoor weather

Stars Indoor Sports Weather Policy

Does Stars Indoor Sports Close for Snow?

The short answer: we stay open for almost everything Ohio throws at us — rain, cold, snow. We're indoors, after all. The one exception is a Level 2 Snow Emergency declared for Franklin County. When that happens, all programming is canceled until the emergency is lifted.

Monitoring Weather Conditions Year-Round

Our team keeps a close eye on local forecasts and Franklin County emergency declarations year-round. Because we're an indoor facility, most programs run right through rain, cold, and light snow. What we watch for are the conditions that make travel genuinely dangerous:

  • Winter storms and heavy snow or ice accumulation
  • Severe thunderstorms or tornado warnings
  • Hazardous road conditions
  • Franklin County Level 1 or Level 2 Snow Emergency declarations

The safety of our players, parents, coaches, referees, staff, and visitors always comes first.

Winter Weather Protocols

If Franklin County declares a Level 2 Snow Emergency, Stars Indoor Sports will close immediately, and all scheduled programming will be canceled for the duration of the emergency. This applies to everything on the calendar, including:

Adult Soccer Leagues
Youth Soccer Leagues
Tots Sports Classes
Flag Football & Dodgeball
Field Rentals
Camps & Clinics
Birthday Parties
Special Events & Tournaments

You can check the current Franklin County emergency level directly through the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Even if no emergency is declared, we encourage everyone to use their best judgment. If road conditions near your home are dangerous, please prioritize your safety — we understand and respect that decision.

What Happens if My Game or Class Is Canceled?

We do everything we can to keep the schedule intact — but when weather forces a cancellation, here's what to expect:

  • League games may be rescheduled to make up dates
  • Youth classes may receive makeup sessions or schedule adjustments
  • Field rentals and events will be rescheduled when possible
  • Team captains and program participants will receive direct communication with the next steps

The weather can change fast. Keep checking for updates on the day of your event, especially during winter storm systems.
