How Individual Registration Works
Signing your child up as a free agent at Stars is simple. Here's exactly what to expect from start to finish:
Register Online
Head to the registration portal for your child's age group and division. Select "I am registering an individual," complete your child's information, sign the online participant waiver, and submit. Full individual registration fee is due at the time of registration.
Stars Assigns Your Player
After the registration deadline closes, our staff reviews all individual sign-ups and places each player on a team. Your child will be assigned to a Stars house team or added to an open spot on an existing team's roster.
We'll Contact You
Once your child's placement is confirmed, Stars will reach out with all the details: team name, schedule, and next steps. Add Sports@StarsIndoorSports.com to your trusted contacts so the assignment email doesn't get caught in spam.
Show Up and Play
Games run on Saturdays and Sundays across the session. Your child shows up, plays their session's games (seven in the Fall, eight in Winter and Spring), and represents their Stars house team. No practices required; this is a games-only league.
Can My Child Join a Soccer Team as an Individual?
Yes, and Stars Indoor Sports makes it easy. Individual registrations are accepted for every youth soccer age group, from U7 through U18/19 and High School Coed. If your child wants to play but doesn't have a team, they register as a free agent, and Stars places them after the deadline.
Individual players are assigned to the B Division, Stars' recreational tier, designed specifically for developing players, beginners, and free agents competing at an approachable level. Every house team player receives two free Stars T-shirts and the full league experience: seven or eight organized, refereed games, depending on the session, on real indoor turf at 6124 Busch Blvd.
If Stars can't place your child on a team for a given session, your registration fee is fully refunded; no risk, no hassle.
Stars Don't Do Tryouts, and That's the Point
Stars Indoor Sports doesn't hold tryouts. There's no evaluation day, no cut list, no waiting to find out if your child made the team.
Instead, every individual player who registers is placed on a team. After the registration deadline, Stars staff review sign-ups and assign each player to a Stars house team or to an open roster spot on an existing team, matching them to their age group, skill division, and session availability.
Individual registrations default to the B Division, making this a natural fit for players who are newer to the game and not yet ready for the competitive A bracket. The B Division is recreational-first, development-focused, and, most importantly, guaranteed to get your child on a team and on the field.
Youth soccer tryouts in Columbus can be stressful. Stars offers a better path: just register, and we handle the rest.
Are There Beginner Youth Soccer Teams in Columbus?
Yes, Stars Indoor Sports runs a B Division at every youth age group, built specifically for recreational players, beginners, and free agents. If your child is new to organized soccer, still developing their skills, or just wants to try the indoor game without the pressure of a competitive bracket, this is where they should start.
Individual registrations at Stars are placed in the B Division by default, so free agents always play alongside others at a similar level. Boys and Girls B Division teams are available from U7 through U18/19, with High School Coed as well. Whether your child has never kicked a ball in an organized setting or is simply transitioning from outdoor to indoor play, the Stars B Division offers a welcoming, structured, and genuinely fun environment to grow in.
Seven games in the Fall, eight in Winter and Spring. Saturdays and Sundays. Real competition on real turf, at exactly the right pace.
